Project aims
The aims of this project are twofold:
- to document what is typical language that
students in different year level use to explain and justify
mathematical ideas
- to investigate how teachers model and
scaffold mathematical language
This knowledge will inform kura and others
about how to enhance students' use of language in their mathematics
learning.
Partnerships involved
This project involves a partnership between
the University of Otago, Auckland College of Education, and Rotorua
school Te Kura Kaupapa Mäori o Te Koutu
Expected Outcomes
Results are disseminated to Te Kura Kaupapa
Mäori o Te Koutu and other kura
A national conference presentation (e.g. Ethnomathematics
Conference)
